3 Stunning State Parks in Upstate NY

Upstate NY is one of the most beautiful places on earth!  With our rolling hills, picturesque lakes and scenic state parks, there is much to enjoy and see!

We have 3 state parks near us, worth visiting.  Let's start with Letchworth State Park, located in Livingston County. It's easy to see why this park was voted best NYS attraction in 2017.  Dubbed The Grand Canyon of the East, it is one of the most scenic places in the Eastern part of the US.  Home to the Genesee River and three amazing waterfalls, the highest being 600 ft, Letchworth State Park offers visitors beautiful views, 66 miles of hiking trails, biking, horseback riding trails, hot air ballooning, kayaking, white water rafting, snowmobiling and cross country skiing. It is also a favorite place to picnic in one of the many pull offs over looking the river and falls. You can also choose to camp here with tent, camper or rent one of their cabins.  The wildlife here is abundant as well.  With all these amazing opportunities, Letchworth a must see!

The next state park on my list is Stoney Brook State Park in Dansville.  To get the most out of this park, bring your hiking shoes and swimsuit and walk the Gorge Trail.  This trail takes you along the stream, passing waterfalls and pools that you can stop to swim in.  Stoney Brook offers a natural stream fed pool with different depths for swimming.  You can also camp, picnic, play basketball, volleyball or tennis in the park.  The park is open year round, however, the trails close once the snow falls and re-opens once the spring cleanup is completed.  This park is so enjoyable because you can swim as you hike along the trail stopping to take in the beauty of the place.

Last on my list is Harriet Hollister Spencer Park in Springwater. This park offers hiking, picnicking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and biking.  What makes this park so great is its views!  When driving into the park there is an amazing view of Honeoye Lake that will take your breath away!  Visit in the fall and you will see all the amazing colors of the changing leaves.  This is a favorite spot for Wedding photos, senior portraits and family shots. There is also a picnic pavilion for events or family get-togethers.

Take a drive this summer and visit one of these parks.  You won't be disappointed in the beauty of them all or the activities you can enjoy with your family or friends.
