Lima

Charming Lima, New York is touted as The Crossroads of Western New York.  Originally named Charleston, New York the name was later changed to Lima to reflect that many residents had come from Old Lyme, Connecticut.

Lima was truly one of the country's very first college towns with the opening of Genesee Wesleyan Seminary in 1830, later becoming Genesee College, which was actually founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church.  After much debate, the Methodist Episcopal Church moved the college to Syracuse, which later became known independently as Syracuse University. The old Genesee College campus is now home to Elim Bible Institute.
