Livonia Man Brings a Love of Music to Those Around Him
In 2001 a local Livonia graduate decided to take his passion for music in a different direction. Steve West, who had been playing music since high school at Livonia Central School, wanted something different in his life. After selling a long time family owned business, he decided that he wanted to take his love of music and turn it into a business.
His passion had grown since the days in the Livonia music room and he wanted to teach others in the community how to follow their passion as well by teaching them how to play guitar. Steve isn't looking to become famous or well known, he just wants others to have a great time playing music and he loves passing on his knowledge and passion to others.
Along with teaching, Steve plays "gigs" at several Local and Regional businesses in and around Conesus Lake & beyond. He can be found singing the tunes of Jazz, Blues, Standards and Acoustic on any given night. He and plays weddings and events. Some of Steve's upcoming gigs, include Open Mic Night at Custom Brew Crafters in Honeoye Falls every Thursday, and Sundays at Brown Hound in the Memorial Art Gallery during Brunch. Steve mentioned that some of his favorite places to play are the assisted living homes and nursing homes. "Seeing the elderly sing along and smile is very rewarding to me. I look forward to playing there." Steve has also volunteered as the music coordinator, as well as played for Livonia's own Autumn in the Village, that takes place every September.
His passion for playing shows in his guitar collection. He has several beautifully crafted and unique sounding instruments, including a mandolin and ukulele. He has a modulated voice that you just can't help sing along with.
