Hey Buffalo: Check Out The Genesee Valley & Western Finger Lakes

Hey:  We're Really, Really Close!!!!

As a Buffalo native, I was very familiar with friends and family who took excursions to the Finger Lakes on a regular basis.  Whether that trip was a family vacation to a lakeside summer cottage for the week, a day trip to a specific destination or a weekend wine tour adventure with friends.  Most of these trips were to the big Finger Lakes like Cayuga, Seneca and Kueka lakes, which were up to a 3 hour car ride from Buffalo.

My own discovery of Conesus Lake happened when I met my husband (who grew up in the area) and Conesus Lake became a regular summer time destination for us, until we moved here permanently.  There were so many things to love about Conesus Lake, but none more-so, than the fact that it was a little over an hour drive from Buffalo. That's it!!  I still can't believe how many of my Buffalo friends are still very unfamiliar with this area, only an hour east of most of them.  In fairness, I am personally still pleasantly discovering the region myself.

For example, while I was very familiar with the communities of Avon, Geneseo, Livonia and the surrounding Conesus Lake area, I really had no idea about the 3 other lakes close by.  Hemlock Lake, Canadice Lake were virtually unknown to anyone outside the area and Honeoye Lake is often over-looked as well.  Hemlock and Canadice Lakes are absolutely gorgeous un-touched natural gems.  Both Hemlock and Candice Lakes are completely surrounded by State Park lands.  With strict policies regarding development, boating and swimming, these two lakes are unique compared to the other Finger Lakes.  For bikers, hikers, kayakers, and outdoor enthusiasts, Hemlock and Canadice Lakes are pure paradise!!  Honeoye Lake offers its own unque flavor for those looking for a smaller, quiter lake experience with breath-taking beauty
